The mood of meditation is the mood of sublimity itself.
This sublime feeling can be described as the inner being
falling into itself, the inner being bowing down to itself,
surrendering into itself, so that, for a short moment,
there is no other, no sense of otherness, no object-based
perception. This is what I mean by sublime. It means
to be released of oneself, transcend oneself, easily,
without friction, without effort, without fear. It’s
a joy to feel ones life merge into That which is beyond
At some blessed point, whose origin is unknown even
to the wise, meditation becomes transformed
into the meditator. The meditator arrives at immeasurable
consciousness – becomes
the infinite bliss of the Self. This is a gift,
a divine gift. No one knows the hour of arrival of such
In the logic of time and space, that is, the logic of
the body, the human nervous system and the finite
mind, with its logic and reason, there are many so-called
obstacles to becoming this Infinite Consciousness, this
unlimited freedom, this full identity with the Absolute
Consciousness. The mind invents reasons why it cannot
be so, and then it invents formulas to teach itself how
to become That - it invents teachings, paths, practices.
But the most natural thing is actually to become ones
the easiest thing, the most lovable thing of
In the presence of an Awakened Being who has come into
the full feeling of the Heart, the Heart-Consciousness,
these so-called obstacles, whether they are
real or imagined, can be transcended rapidly. That means
a dissolving power that emanates out of the Awakened
Heart, the power of dissolution itself. This dissolution
impacts – penetrates – into the body-mind
of the recipient, the Heart-Friend and melts
the density that seems to prevent Heart-Awakening from
The gift that one who is Heart-Awakened offers is immeasurable.
It’s the gift of human longing itself, resuscitated
and revived within the Infinite Consciousness. Longing
must be established, in a sense perfected, before the
Awakened Heart can dawn in Its fullness, because it is
the object (I don’t like that word object but I’ll
use it for the time being), because the Awakened
Heart-Consciousness becomes the object of infinite longing.
So the desire process itself becomes resuscitated, revived,
reawakened in Consciousness, in Awakened Consciousness.
And that Awakened-Heart-Force of pure desire is what
discovers, what finds the Immeasurable Heart-Consciousness
Itself. Once wanting is freed up from its fictions and
its supposed limitations, then wanting will find the
Well of the Infinite Light, Love and Bliss.
You’ve probably been told the opposite, that desire
needs to be eradicated and then you find the Infinite
Consciousness. It’s all a question of perspective.
When desire is full it also quietens, it becomes
silenced. The self becomes silenced. The process of desire,
though, is not extinguished through any temporary or
partial or even absolute realization of the Transcendental
Reality of the Self. Desire lingers. Desire continues.
There is no experience, within meditation or within
spiritual life itself that could ever satiate the eternal
hunger of the human/divine being.
There’s no difference between Awakening and suffering.
The Infinite Consciousness continues to revel
in desire long after Self-Awakening, after nirvikalpa samadhi – after
full Transcendental Realization. The difference is that
Consciousness now has gripped this body-mind that is
full of the Love-Light and has Its way with that body-mind.
It possesses that body-mind. Consciousness becomes the
resident along with all the other relative aspects of
the personality – the ego, the mind, the intellect,
the senses, the emotions. So, all of those relative dimensions
have adjusted themselves, surrendered themselves to the
Presence of this Awakened Consciousness. And therefore,
they fit in It. It doesn’t fit in them anymore.
It is no longer metered out in specific instances of
a life. It is now boundlessly present. It’s an
ocean of liberated bliss, full and overflowing, uncontainable,
unbearable. This is where the desire mechanism floats,
in this unbearable-ness of feeling, of full feeling.
So every cell of the body-mind is sipping this nectar
of Enlightened Feeling, Awakened Feeling, Heart-Feeling.
None of my words will capture what this actually
is, but we can hint at it. We can suggest it and in that
suggestion, that hint, a taste may be acquired
spontaneously – if
there’s innocence, if there’s openness -
without any sense of authority coming from me.
Authority breeds fear and fear is of the essence of duality.
So there can be no authority in this process.
Right in this moment the Life-Shakti, the currents of
energy and delight are activated. Samadhi, Transcendental
Awareness, is here! God-inebriation is here.
easy to feel this. There is no obstacle that
is more real or more substantial than this Core Reality
of Bliss and Love and Light. There is nothing that has
more substance than this Awakened Condition.
At some point, if you are graced by good fortune, the
experience of That and the conviction of That – even
the mere mental conviction of It – become one.
There’s this magical point of intersection where
the Awakened Being merges with the understanding
that such is so, that is so - so ham - I am That.
Until that magic moment appears the body-mind must simply
unravel its story, its bliss-tragedy story.
It must unravel and reveal its inherent story to itself
until all meaning is transcended, all content is transcended.
At some point even God is transcended - so that there’s no history,
there’s no personal history, and there’s
no intellectual history that you have memorized from
any kind of “text book,” spoken or written.
Your own life becomes the living reality that you study
now, that you speak about, that interact within, that
you offer as a gift.
Right in this present moment the activation of Reality
in Its fullness, without any sense of detachment,
is here, now. There’s no seeking for It.
We listen with our whole being, not with our ears.
We listen without listening. We hear without hearing – and
then the message of pure invisibility is given
and received in an instant, in a flash.
